It is being used as a weight loss drug and an alternative to bariatric surgery. It can have major side effects, needs to be used for life to keep the weight off, and is quite expensive from my understanding.
Obviously diet is the best way to lose weight. Like surgery, it’s more of a last-resort.

Aside from the glucose regulation stuff, the hormone it mimics also suppresses the appetite and slows digestion. So you feel less hungry, and stay fuller for longer.
Cells in general intake more sugar so not so much gets to the “ok let’s turn this sugar into fat” cells?
