HBOC? something about quarter back vs hump back?
Back in the dark ages of the 1950s or 1960s, there was a fairly common slang initialism “BMOC” which stood for big man on campus. So this panel riffs on that with “HBOC” meaning hunchback on campus.
As a fellow hunchback, I can confirm this (wish I was joking). :)
I’ve heard BNOC recently (big name on campus)
BMOC was pretty common at one point for “Big Man on Campus” so I think it’s a play on that.
Though the QB was often a BMOC, so you’re not far off!
