X has lost an estimated 40 million monthly active users in Brazil after the social network was banned in the country.
@Fitik and Fediverse only gained a few thousand.
We’re losing because of the lack of moderation tools.
People don’t always want to be a part of the moderation process. Matter of fact, I’d say most don’t.
Therefore, people will just block and mute, and if it keeps happening, they’ll leave.
If user reports continue to be the only way for moderation to happen, Fedi fails.
I’ve been beating this drum for almost a year and it really feels like it’s never going to get fixed, unfortunately.😔
@BeAware@social.beaware.live BlueSky does have some moderation features that Fedi doesn’t have, like moderation lists or labelers, but I don’t think this is the main reason, Threads have even less of them and they gain much more users
@Fitik I’m talking moderation on a level that a user cannot do themselves.
Blocking and muting are not moderation, they’re user tools to limit your feed, nothing more.
Is Bluesky like Reddit/Lemmy?? Reddit wont fucking unban me so now im here and confused :D
@Cock_Inspecting_Asexual nope. It’s like Mastodon/Threads/Twitter.
Aww man… Lemmy is alright but the layout is- weird… It’s not very cozy like reddit is, feels like im running a fuckin terminal here
@Cock_Inspecting_Asexual you can try Mbin. It’s the only other alternative, but the layout is very similar.😬
UI is very subjective, but Reddit’s is not really enjoyed by the masses since it changed 5-10 years ago, so I’m guessing that these UIs are trying to appeal to those people who don’t like Reddits “new” corporate looking UI.🤷♂️
I liked reddit cus of the silly gimmicks it had, but I fucking HATE THE ADMINS. 3 months and still no email response back…
In my case, I have the technical knowledge and spare hardware to host a small server. But, I find the value is too low for me to put in the effort
Back in the day, in Reddit you could actually learn something, push your hobby, share some laughs. Reddit of course became a dumpster fire and I find it’s almost the same here
As a user, no matter how I filter and tinker I cannot escape the diarrhea of USA politics in all communities; and to boot, any variation from the herd’s opinion is met with instant insults
Today I find the fediverse is almost as bad as Reddit, only kept in check by the smaller size to be honest.
Yeah, it’s sad because I had big hopes but the community here has worked against any hope of making it decent - it’s too confusing for a beginner to know where to sign up, if they do it’s a struggle to find active communities amid all the clones, and then if they try to participate all they’re get is abuse and downvotes if their opinion is a letter off from the accepted opinion.
I would accept difficulties if people were at least trying to make it better but there’s never been any effort to work together improving things, no community get together or shared effort - just insults and bickering.
xitter can’t keep losing users, they never had many to begin with.
It’s OK, Elon will replace them with bots. The investors don’t need to know …
(hell, most of the money behind the purchase undoubtedly WANTED Twitter to become a cesspool…)
Well duh!
