Plants need direct light to grow… most need full sun. Personally all the solar farms I’ve seen just “grow” grass and everything is kept trimmed down to not cast shade on the panels. Putting the panels up higher would still cast any plants grown in deep shade. I think putting them in places deep shade is needed/wanted on the ground makes sense and because cities tend to be hotter due to paving using solar panels to cast shade would help lower the temps in cities, lowering power usage on things like AC. I think integrating solar into urban landscapes is the future

Fuck AI@lemmy.world•The AI Layoff Bill Is Coming Due, And CTOs Are Going To Pay It Twice
22·23 hours agoWhen you need two weeks and two people to do the work of dozens over the course of months the number will never recover. My son got a CS degree just before AI exploded and I think it was a terrible choice and a huge waste of time and money, thankfully he did land a job and I hope he can cash out and go be trained for a sustainable career before too long
As a “fuck the system this is blatantly discriminatory” type of kid I never had this experience
It’s dehumanizing, literally
This is what I always told my kids. Basically no job on earth gives a fuck about your highschool grades a lot don’t even care about your college grades, they only care if you got the degree so why worry about it? Apply yourself, get results that reflect personal growth and call it done. I’m not raising worker bees
This is why parents/society non stop deep throating the idea that grades are everything is so toxic. Being good at school doesn’t even automatically mean a person is intelligent just that they have the specific skills that specific school is looking for it’s not a reflection of their overall intellect.
Don’t give grades, if the student has significant growth that’s all that matters, pass or not pass, at least in k - 12

I have zero problem catfishing pedophiles and I think it’s bizarre anyone else would

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Agree or disagree? A lie by omission is still a lie.
3·23 hours agoI think the issue with this situation is often one person assuming they know what’s important and what’s not instead of letting the other person decide for themselves once they’re given the full info, it’s why omissions are often considered lies.
You’re actually not entitled to decide what others find important or not

4·2 days agoThe intent matters. Did you omit something on purpose to serve your own agenda/narrative or did you omit something for some other reason.
If you’re omitting something to serve yourself it’s a lie.

112·3 days agoA young woman from Washington state university has already proven classical computers can solve just as well as quantum if you give them equal advantages. Everything saying quantum computing is faster is operating on the unspoken principle of having the entire data grid already preloaded and comparing it to classical computers who do not have the entire data grid preloaded but when you give them both the magic preload pill quantum computers aren’t any better than classical
