I think that’s a pretty accurate assessment. I personally haven’t seen any evidence that she’s anti-Semitic and that is the center of Holocaust denialism. Thanks for writing this! I feel like I’ve been a bit of a ping pong ball: back and forth and back and forth. I’ve kind of had to make sense of being non-binary too. It’d be so much simpler if I was binary trans, but you know it would also be really simple if I was not trans in the first place, but here we are. At this point it kind of feels weird to see my masculine side come out, but I still have it. Unfortunately my brain is a bit mushy because of all the moe moe anime stuff and the stereotypical transgender woman culture fueled by second puberty. I should stop doing the performative BS. That’s not what makes me anything. Girl, boy, whatever.

I get what you’re saying but the Republicans did just remove all funding from USAID and PEPFAR, dooming millions in the global south to death by hunger and disease. And instead they are going for an extractive approach. (I know, like they weren’t already, but the US wants to use hard power everywhere now which is the stupidest idea ever) I got the chance to speak with some USAID veterans and it isn’t pretty. Even in the global South, the United States is losing a lot of favorability because of these cuts. That’s what happens when you cut your soft power agency into pieces It’s a choice between the Shit party and the Shit Lite party, but at least a number of decent people have leverage over the Shit Lite party.

Well I kicked out a trans woman from a church. And I’ve done some other stuff. I was able to meet a friend of mine from years ago who’s transgender and I tried to “convince him out of it” but he certainly didn’t blame me. In fact, he was like that couple years before we met.

It’s a relatively common thing and I try not to blame myself for it because I did what I could with what I was given.

I received this sort of race blind teaching when I was younger. I’ve noticed that the effects have not stayed with me, but when I was able to talk to my dad about these sorts of things when we were older, he tended to try and deny that racism even existed anymore. This in itself is pretty dang racist. Race blind teaching teaches that the lower rates of admission to universities among black people is their own fault. Or the disproportionate areas of poverty among black communities is also their own fault. It ignores the long long history of white people subjugating other races in the United States and assumes that everybody starts off with the same level. Of course this isn’t said or taught or even derived, but there is a weird emphasis on merit in school. Like with the SAT or other standardized tests.

When I was in high school wrestling, I went to different schools for wrestling meets. When I was there, I saw that my school was very well funded and theirs were not as well funded. You could see it with the crumbling plaster or old equipment. Broken furniture or grimy floors. Not to say that the school wasn’t functional, but it just wasn’t as nice and I imagined that the kids there don’t have the same resources that I did. I realized it was probably tougher to grow up there than it was in my community. I’m sure the other people could adapt to it, but it was certainly a measure of visible wealth inequality.

Something that is actively taught in some white households is that the status quo is good. There used to be problems with race in the past or discrimination against other minorities in the past. But today we’re doing really well and we don’t need to prop up other people anymore. It breeds a very unsympathetic person concerned with one’s own welfare instead of the welfare of all people. It leads to people supporting law enforcement instead of systemic reform. And in this way, it perpetuates racism. Not a loud, boisterous and riotous racism, but an insular and patronizing racism.

Huh. I used to use the laundromat a few doors down. There are some great places in traverse City that we can go to anyway. We’ve got a good trans/LGBT in general Community there. And we give each other business recommendations. Granted, I never got a haircut there but I’m trying to get more hair.
