I’m not sure about that. I have aphantasia, so no visual memories. My problem is with past events, they often feel like they’re disconnected from me. I don’t have a first person sense of my childhood for example. I can remember what happened, but I don’t so much remember it happening.

Photography for me is a way of anchoring myself to the event. When I look at a photo of something, it takes me back there in a way my memory can’t.

When I first heard about them, I thought they sounded useful. I’m a photographer, and one of the challenges is not always having a camera handy when you need it, so the idea of a readily available camera for taking photos of birds, sunsets, landscapes etc, and the ability to use them as ear phones etc sounded kinda neat. I spoke to some vision impaired folk at my local parkrun who use them to help identify what they’re looking at, or read things they can’t read etc. This was in the early days, when I was still a bit naive about where they would go. To me, they sounded like nifty technology.

And then Meta cranked up the creepy spy factor, and people started doing really creepy things with them.

As far as I’m aware, it’s client side only. It doesn’t stop content federating to the piefed instance, because other people can still see it. As for why you can see posts, but not comments from a blocked user, I’d test that on the default piefed web interface and see if it works the same there. If piefed default hides posts too, then it’s an issue with the app you’re using. If piefed default shows it, then it’s a question for the piefed dev!

Yeah, there’s not much point in spending money on z-wave today, but we had some old devices laying around, so we put them to use! :)

This is an old z-wave 6 in 1 sensor that was brought out of retirement when we spun up home assistant again.

It spikes even when not in direct sunlight, so I think it may just be past its prime. We’ve got plenty of others integrated, and a weather station in the back yard, so this one was more just a case of using a sensor we had laying around then needing to use it.

There was no real cat. That particular sensor seems to read high during the peak temperatures of the day, and likely needs to be replaced.

I’m not sure I understand. You said you can’t see them on your main account, but you can on your alt. If you blocked them on your main account, but not on your alt, that’s what you should expect to see. If that’s not the situation, can you clarify for me?

parkrun has been very strongly inclusive of trans folk, so they aren’t likely to fold easily to this sort of stuff. They consulted me as part of their 2019 overhaul of the way they handled gender, specifically because they wanted to hear trans voices.

I wing it. There might be some big ticket things I know I’m going to do, but even those, I know I’m going to do them, but I organise it on the fly when I’m there.

There is some sort of bug in pixelfed. Normally, you don’t see posts unless they have an image, but for some reason, you can see posts that someone else boosts even if it doesn’t have an image. That’s how most non photo political stuff snuck through to my timeline. You can get around it by hiding boosts from people you follow who boost the content you don’t want to see.

I set them to close automatically after 24 hours, because I have having more tabs open than I can track. I explicitly don’t use them as “read later” bookmarks.
