I am in my 50s. When I was a kid, tv shows had a hard start time, and people who turned up late just accepted that they missed out. And talking over the show was considered rude. Now with streaming, people will turn up late, take forever getting settled and regularly interrupt, because “we can always pause and rewind”. With modern technology it now takes about two hours to watch a one hour show.
Solar plus battery distributed widely would be a good solution ☀️🔋☺️
Re-write the spell to be a firecube. If the grid is that important, just declare that magical fire occupies a cubical volume because “magic”
Which is more expensive to maintain? Iran blocking the strait? Or USA blocking the strait? I suspect the ongoing costs of the USA navy are higher.

3·5 months agoPrioritising the group over the individual is the rallying cry of almost every depiction of armed conflict in fantasy books & films. It is in Lord of the Rings.
Last week a work colleague used a new (new for me) word “collectivist” an umbrella term under which they placed socialist, communist, fascist & nazi. I don’t know where to even begin approaching this. It is like a pre-emptive dismissal of any rational discourse. :-(

What about trust? Simplicity is a feature because it increases trust. Trust that the dice are fair. Dice that are unnecessarily complex reduces that trust.
