But does this mean, you have to switch Siri off and on every time you need it vs every time you type something?
More technical, is this a global setting or can this be set per app?

It’s less about looks (at least for me), but about speed

Pretty much all I need, I literally have at my fingertips.
Opening a terminal just feels much more quick - don’t know why it really is faster, but e.g. i3 is just a much smaller code base than KDE and they’re not really in competition, as they focus on different things.

Re-arranging windows in different layouts with just keys is also nice - and fast as fuck.

I don’t want to move windows around when I work, I want to focus on my work.
Just needing to move the mouse to position a window somewhere can sometimes break the flow.

But I have to admit, that with some layouts (split screen with one side tabs and vertical terminals on the other side, can be a bit frustrating, when I jump through the tabs and not into the terminal container.

But I think, I’ll need to check the i3wm manual again, because jumping between containers is probably possible, without jumping through all tabbed windows.
So, I guess, that’s on me and not a wm fault

All in all, it depends on the kind of work you do on your PC.
I’m often in terminals checking logs and stuff.
I3 just felt the nicest (on X11 - couldn’t try sway or hyprland, because I need XForwarding and I’m not sure, if that works by now or ever will) and I stayed with it - for now

Haben gerade 5 Horror Jahre
Erst wurden im Wohnhaus alle Balkons saniert, danach kam Fernwärme, dann wurde nacheinander die Wohnung unter mir, über mir, neben mir und oben neben mir renoviert, dann haben sie (wegen ner Erweiterung einer Bim Linie) ne Ampel vor unser Haus gebaut, damit die Ersatz Linienbusse dort gut abbiegen können.
Deshalb täglich 500m Stau vor der Tür mit entsprechenden Abgasen und Lärm.
Dazu kommt, dass die Rettung den Weg zum Krankenhaus fährt und seit der Ampel immer das Folgetonhorn braucht.
Den Radweg in der Gasse haben sie wegen der Busse auch streichen müssen, weshalb die Leute in der Umgebung nun statt Lastenrad das Auto zum Einkaufen bzw Kinder von der Kita holen nehmen müssen - also noch mehr Verkehr.

Ich hoffe echt, dass der Bim Ausbau das wert ist…und ich weiß nicht, wie lang ich das noch aushalte.

Wenn man täglich von Presslufthammer und Stemmeisen geweckt wird, haut das auf Dauer ziemlich aufs Gemüt - und ich arbeite im Home Office, weil selbständig…

Kann deine Aversion gegen Lärm also sehr gut verstehen…

Andererseits denke ich, brauchen Leute auch Veranstaltungen, wo Mal der ganze Frust weg gefeiert werden kann und ich befürchte, dafür braucht es auch Lautstärke.
Vielleicht fühlst du dich nach meiner Geschichte etwas getröstet, dass es bei dir nur 1-3 Tage sind und keine Jahre ;⁠-⁠)
