Bernie wasn’t a third party.
… Bernie didn’t get 2% of the vote in the general election.
Would you like to recite, for the class, the top 4 parties and their percentages in 2016?
and the Democrats did all they could to torpedo him, like they do with all the candidates,
“They did all they could to torpedo him”
Yes, they forced millions of Democrats not to vote for him in 2016
they betrayed you and yet you think voting for them is the solution.
You insist that the electorate is in total agreement with you because you despise the idea that democracy might be a process that functions without your approval.

World News@quokk.au•Iran strikes were launched without approval from Congress, deeply dividing lawmakersEnglish
3·2 hours agoDividing lawmakers into fascists on one side, and shitheads with a self-preservation instinct, and human beings, on the other.
Cool, now tell me how you intend on preventing Iran from getting nukes forever, especially since a key part of your argument is that if it ‘gets too bad’ we can just pull out after murdering half the country.
if Democrats see a third party getting 2% of the vote they’ll bend over backwards to coopt their policies, including not commiting a genocide.
Do you not remember 2016
Would you prefer a nuclear war with Iran? Because those were your options,
That’s the stupidest fucking thing I’ve heard in the past hour. I’m sure the Trump administration has a place for you.
Bizarre, isn’t it?
Fuck Biden for losing the fucking republic out of his own fucking hubris and ego.
Christ, man, then voters with standards need to start showing up to primaries.
This isn’t some issue where Our Aristocrats™ have already made all their policy positions ahead of time and then forced us poor little plebeians to go along with it. I was fucking on the ground in 2016 and 2020. I remember how the Dem primaries - the primaries for the least right-wing third of this country - went.
Voters choose who runs, extraordinary situations like 2024 exempted. In 1992, in 2000, in 2004, in 2008, in 2016, in 2020, the voters chose who they did because most people do not have the same standards of you or I.
The military is a tool to prevent a last resort from ever needing to happen, always has been, the only possible issue with getting involved in a war with iran is getting bogged down for the next two decades like in Iraq, but we always have the option to just not do that, we always have had that option, any amount of destabilizing of this nation will be a net good, if we lose too many troops we can just leave and it was still good.
What a fucking psychopathic way of thinking.

I’m not an American exceptionalist. I don’t think there’s anything extraordinarily broken about Americans that isn’t present elsewhere.
You can take that optimistically (“We don’t have to continue this pattern, just change our circumstances”) or pessimistically (“Oh, so that’s why there’s so much backsliding towards far-right parties worldwide”)
But… no one voted for Harris in the primaries.
None of us at least. Harris only ran in 2020, and dropped out before the primary elections actually began; in 2024 she was appointed by the DNC because fuckwit Biden waited until the last minute to drop out.
… username checks out?
The CiC is only one of many roles the president has. It would be like saying “If you’re voting for the ONLY OFFICIAL WHO CAN AUTHORIZE A NUCLEAR ATTACK to avoid launching a nuclear attack on another country, you don’t deserve to vote.”
The fucking military is a tool of last resort for the defense of the US and its allies - or rather, that’s how it should be. Instead, orange fuckwit is starting a war he himself warned against under previous administrations - not that previous administrations were even fucking close to war with Iran.
It’s all projection. And the shit-eaters in the electorate eat it up with joy on their lips.
Not reckless. A big wreck. The biggest. Bigly. Wow.
PugJesus@piefed.socialtoPolitical Memes@lemmy.world•Rember who you're fighting for!English
7·5 hours agoThey either chose it, or were operating with such a level of callousness and incompetence that we may as well count them as choosing it, considering the precision of modern weaponry.
At the end of the day, it legitimately doesn’t matter whether it turns out ‘well’ or not, because pretty indisputably, it’s going to turn out worse than if we had not done it.
International relations aren’t some fucking game (angry in general, not at you) where it’s as simple as win or lose, like these fuckwits are playing at. If these cretins somehow (and against their own authoritarian natures) installed a legitimately democratic and stable government over Iran when the dust all settles, that will not be an improvement over the Iranian people doing so themselves; and such a result is not possible unless the Iranian people are ready to do it.
The government would end up struggling with issues of perceived legitimacy, diplomatic prejudices from real or imagined obligations to Israel and the USA, and the enduring issue of the massive human and material costs of a foreign invasion, no matter how well-executed (and considering the opening salvo has killed some 85 children, I’m not fucking optimistic about the competency with which it will be executed).
More likely, these fuckwits are going to try, if they ‘succeed’, to install a repressive puppet government that acts in their interests instead of the interests of the current ruling class.
ODD is a real thing. While diagnoses can be misused, especially by authoritarian governments, in general, psychs are neither particularly ‘trigger-happy’ about making serious diagnoses like that (especially for things that have no easy treatment, like ODD), nor is that an opinion cultivated in academic psychological literature, which often consists of psychs arguing over what should and should not be counted as a disorder in light of both personal variation and what is actually innate (or developed) vs. evoked by circumstances or valued by society.
Traditionally, people get more conservative as they get older because they acquire more that they can lose, because unrest - even for a good cause - endangers that. Even if not consciously, their opinions change, defensively, around that. Not even necessarily material goods, though those are a major factor. Spouses, children, social circles.
You know, things and connections that our generation and the generation after us has less and less of. Dating rates dropped. Birth rates dropped. Social circles obliterated and any attempts to revive them crucified on a capitalist cross.
Look at us! The generation who owns nothing and has less to lose every day!
Suicide is rampant is pre-modern societies too. They just don’t get to benefit from help. Ain’t the psychs that are wrong here, but an enduring issue in society itself.
