Ottawa@lemmy.ca•Councillor foresees RTO traffic 'hell' despite city transportation plan
4·5 days ago“My deep hope is that this comes off without a hitch and we have so many people going, ‘Wow, we can take transit. This is fun. This is easy. It’s convenient, and maybe we can just stay on transit for the long term,’” Dudas said.
What’s fun, easy, and convenient is working from home. You know what, it’ll cost EVERYONE less too. Maybe we can put the park and ride expansion money into healthcare or child care.
I’m using this for everything. Thank you.
We gotta put it in the front window for all the neighbours to see!
Had to see what else is down there.

Canada@lemmy.ca•Telus Al Data Centres Could Stall If One Vancouver Councillor Gets Her Way
11·9 days agoI use to work for telus and I have lots of friends there still. Everyone is told to use AI and gets $1000 a month. If you hit the limit, they’ll up you to $2000. They’re also spending millions a year on lift and shift VMs into GCP which are not cloud optimised. This year they did a tonne of layoffs in chunks. Directors were told to cut 30%.
I’m sure if they don’t get their DC, they’re just going to keep burning money to use AI, more to fight the City Councillor, and then more to build the DC in the end because there’s no way prices will come down.

I’m pretty sure any reasonable person will understand it when you say something like “I’m one of the polite and quiet Americans”.
I have several American friend. One of them was 100% certain he didn’t sounds American so I called it out a few times and he finally agreed.
I’ve also been ~10km across the boarder at a hotel. The bar staff called me out as a Canadian within 5 min. “It’s the way you say ‘house’”. I got them to say it, I said it, sounds EXACTLY the same to me but they said they’re certain.
Point being, people can tell you’re lying most of the time so it’s really not worth it.

Canada@lemmy.ca•Telus wants CRTC to bring back phone locking to prevent theft
5·11 days agoPretty sure if there’s a PIN and/or password lock screen on any modern phone it’s only good for parts once stolen. You’ll need the google/apple account to factory reset and set it up.
Americans in the Netherlands will say Canada. Caught a few different groups doing while I was there.
Sir, it’s very clear you’ve got that Southern US twang, we don’t speak like that. “They treat us so much better when we say Canada”. How about you don’t do that and just be polite.
Fill it out if you’re American*

Your comment makes me think is it like a micro penis. Just stimulate it a bit for some growth.
I have questions. None of which are about toes.

Canada@lemmy.ca•Disbanding of federal weather radar research group will hamper tornado-warning ability, experts say
5·12 days agoIf a tornado lands in the woods and no one is there to see it, does it REALLY happen? Maybe the weather radar is the cause of all of this! Big brain move, really.

Canada@lemmy.ca•Ottawa announces investment of up to $400M in Teck critical minerals smelter in Trail, B.C.
5·12 days agoI can’t help but think we’re preparing for a war with the Armed forces hiring like mad and now federal investments into Cominco. I hate this timeline so much.
I’ll just leave this here.

From the EU, I hope.
