Do you have any idea how easy thermite is to make and how devestating it would be in the right spot? We, I, should be in south america rn with packets of thermite and a drone. Moreover, thermite gets hot enough to permanently destroy magnets. Making it very useful for destroying hard drives and data centers. Thermite packets could be the new molotov imo.
I think I also really like thermite because I find the idea of using the rust left behind by our failing system combined with the value forsaken metal that is aluminum to melt it all down to be very poetic.
Not entirely sure why I am posting this but my roommate (chemistry undergrad) and I (physicis undergrad) regularly discuss the revolutionary potential of various aspects of our studies so I felt I had to share.
I want you to stop whatever you’re doing and think very, very hard about this: nobody talks, everybody walks.
I get where you are coming from but not enough people are walking
Oh, we’re fed-posting?
Is posting something like this considered generally not ok? I figured mods would remove it if it was too far. I don’t wanna cause a problem for the site but assumed more radical things have been said.
It’s also probably less risky than being an environmental lawyer, and with much better hours.
Yeah there’s those thermite munition drones in Ukraine at the moment. Only a matter of time before cheap quadcopter tech can drop a maneuverable metal dart from super high in the sky, otherwise thermite is better for blanketing an area (like EXACTO BMG ammo but much easier). Politician will have to do outdoor speeches under a terminal velocity bullet proof canopy.
heatseeking rods from god is a fun idea
or more accurately, heat seeking lawn darts from a drone
those thermite canister they use on those drones is not the standard mix that with aluminum powder, they use barium nitrate (which last time i checked was extremely toxic)
Imma slow your roll with data centers, they are fucking giant. And graphite powder is much more potent if it doesn’t pass through hepa first.
I’ll take your word for it. I have no idea how large these facilities are and was only thinking in terms of thermites effectiveness at destroying information.
love the enthusiasm but the internet is enemy territory. Best to keep this offline.
man… shut up
May I ask why?
No, I think others have pointed the way quite effectively.
Idk what the point of blowing up oil infrastructure is. The problem with oil is 1) carbon emissions and 2) we’re gonna run out of it and just blowing shit up isn’t going to help either point. Human civilization needs energy to function, that energy has to come from somewhere, and you’re not going to magic green energy sources out of your asshole with no oil to build any of it with
If you pressed a button that destroyed all oil infrastructure in the world immediately, all you’ll have done is kill literally billions of people through mass starvation and thirst
Its primarily an expression rightous anger meant to make people think about why someone might do that. Damaging infrastructure is useful in that it gets peoples attention. I don’t think anyone has any intention to obliterate all fossil fuel infrastructure instantaneously.
It should also be noted that most fossil fuels aren’t being burned to provide people with food, water and housing. It’s being burned to make funko pops and crypto. Yes, we need energy to function but not this much energy. Direct action in ecological politics works best when tied with economic rhetoric like degrowth.
I’m not willing to wait til we run out of oil to stop using oil and my goal is to make it everyone elses problem too
fossil fuels aren’t being burned to provide people with food, water and housing. It’s being burned to make funko pops and crypto
funko pops and crypto will continue to be “made” as long as it’s “profitable” and if you blow up enough oil infrastructure to render them unprofitable you’ve also greatly exacerbated the costs of those other things (which people will need regardless of profitability)
blow up funko pop bullshit instead
