TLDR: AI about to replace writers.
That depends on the consumers really. If they enjoy the average template based content streaming services were pumping out over the last years then sure, but if people want to get back to the more original content, then something needs to change. 3 weeks is just not enough time to write a good story that used to take 6+ months to write.
I think that’s kinda the problem, plug and play content will be super easy to generate, which is what many streaming services seem to be prioritizing (production cost to engagement ratio)
After the amount of capeshit that’s been coming out of Hollywood in the past 10 years, this can only be a benefit.
You mean that it was the writers that pushed comic book movies and not the executives?
I don’t doubt some of the execs made dreadful decisions (look at history: Alien 3, Suicide Squad are notable examples).
But writers should know the basics about dialogue.
Let AI generate the monthly hero releases. Let talented writers make thoughtful, provocative and beautiful film. It’ll only make those experiences more special.
I’m pretty fucking sure they all know the basics of dialogue, no need to insult them. They are just working with impossible constraints when it comes to rewrites and such. Those creative decisions that are based on the whims of executives and audience testing. There’s no love in the writing because there’s no time to fall in love. These changes need to be happen on the top first.
And if you think ai writing will fix that… Whoo boy give it a couple of years and that snake will eat itself, especially if there’s legal recognition that you can’t use material without the creator’s permission (which should happen).
Uhh, so that just happened…
They could always write something else.
But money!
Yeah, can you believe they work for money?
How much money? That is the question.
If there’s any rich screenwriters on here who got sad because I criticised paying $20 for a ticket to watch their sub-par work, I do apologise.
Film critics in the 70s and 80s were pretty brutal and can roundly deconstruct incompetency better than I ever could.
I’m just saying you’re targeting the wrong people with your criticism. I’m not saying the writing isn’t shit, just that it’s pretty understandable why it is that way and complaining like it’s the writers’ fault and not the studios’ is playing into the studios’ hands.
Sorry you had a subpar movie experience. I guess the only recourse is to hollow out a middle class profession and concentrate more power in the hands of billionaires.
I would suggest that the reason you were enticed into going to see the subpar movie with all its marketing, merchandising, and structural support may have more to do with corporate executives than a hard-as-nails creative profession with a $45,000 median salary.
There is no middle class and there never was.
There is ruling class and working class.
Yeah. It’s not like hollywood shits gold or anything.
Most of the crap that comes out of there is… crap. Maybe we’ll actually see better content if we replace creators who have no integrity with AI that is conditioned to.
I don’t care if chris pratt never gets another gig, lol.

I low-key wish I had a union to fight for me, to make sure my job doesn’t get taken over by ai
I find it very hard to find a new show to watch. There is a certain pinochle to some of my favorite shows. Thus I kinda just rotate what shows I watch. I try watching the serious ones, but the plots are boring and predictable and safe, boo. Every now and then something pops up, schitts creek or what we do in the shadows. But so many shows just miss the mark. Hopefully when that strike is over some truly wonderful stuff come out. You know the writers are brewing up some good stuff.
P.S. I hope they can fix the Magic the gathering story because right now it’s very contradictory and aloof.
