I hadn’t even thought of that until I saw someone’s was like “mee” and now I need to get another account. It’s like how people get caught off guard when I tell them my 20 year old email is just my name with no numbers or special characters.

Or you can choose to be something different on each instance. I just came over from Reddit too. It took me a day to settle in and understand how federation worked but now it makes total sense to me. If you get a message from ‘Fediverse Chick’, that’s not her, someone stole her image, just block the user.
