Western propaganda against AES serves two purposes. 1: it makes them seem scary and authoritarian and 2: it normalises the idea of the surveillance state so that the west can implement versions of the “big brother” stuff they claim is abundant in AES, justifying it by saying it isn’t as bad as “over there”.
