There are a couple replies I made that weren’t replied to so maybe click on later toots to see some of those

Edit: I just clicked the link and it looks so different in browser. I’m talking about my “discussion” with the enlightened truth sandwich (Damn dunning-kruger for giving the most wrong people names that include “truth”)

    I can’t criticize you.

This was the first non-twitter thread on a twitter-like I’ve read. and I loved this lost soul:

I was under the impression that Bernie had spoiled the 2016 presidential election, and was rather miffed at him for it, but according to Wikipedia I was mistaken and he is not to blame.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernie_Sanders#Endorsement_of_Hillary_Clinton

Though I have to wonder why on Earth followers of Bernie Sanders, of all people, would then go on to vote for Trump. Isn’t Trump the exact opposite of Sanders?

The only winning move is not to play. Libs like this don’t have brains. They don’t think, they don’t form opinions rationally by considering evidence. Imagine if you’d asked me how to better win an argument against ChatGPT. Like buddy, you just gotta stop replying lol

    DEMOCRACY or FASCISM

where DEMOCRACY is that you’re REQUIRED to vote for MY CANDIDATE and are NOT allowed to criticize them WHATSOEVER even if they aid and abet GENOCIDE and actively perform UNION BUSTING

Lately I’ve had success by spelling out these peoples’ plan for them. They’ve convinced themselves that things are desperate and they’re one lost election away from fascism, but for some reason they only think about the most imminent election (I guess because they think losing it means there will never be another, although this is still a fringe idea). They have to win the election after that too. So their grand plan is to never lose an election with a party that doesn’t respond to peoples’ needs and whose only real selling point is that they aren’t explicitly fascist. Just vocalizing this goes a long way. It shifts the framing from this one singular election to all future elections. If you want you can also talk about how this strategy has been the case for past elections too.

Given that Trump tried to do a coup last time, it’s not farfetched that he might try it again if he wins.

The difference for me is that I don’t think our democracy is worth fighting for anymore, if it ever was. If nobody in power wants to respond to popular opinions and popular needs, what would I be voting to preserve?

Someone who’s this ideologically committed to the Democratic party is not worth your time and energy. They don’t realize that the Democrats are a slow slide into fascism instead of a fast plunge, because they probably stand to benefit either through a certain flavor of capital gains or through being a part of a political machine.

Psychologically, the more hostile the debate gets, the more likely they are to double down.

I think a big part of this cultish behavior stems from a difference in how we look at elections. To us electoralism is a tool that’s one part of many possible tools we use to build revolution. For them elections are part of their identity. This is team sports without the balls :/

Yes. Don’t take them seriously. They don’t take themselves seriously and are inherently assholes for lashing out while being so ignorant.

State the obvious facts and then make fun of them when they act like this.
