Liking posts that criticise Western human rights failures have led me towards algorithms of pages that worship dictatorships. Tankie Marxists seem to garner a lot of attention within this “left wing” binary. It seems like there’s no such thing as social media politics that are nuanced anymore. I just want to protect myself from data collecting algorithms, stereotypes and assumptions.

Yeah this is by design. Any interaction generates views and revenue and the more outraged you are the more likely you’ll interact; rinse and repeat. The only way out is to abandon social media platforms that have this algorithm that generates money based on your emotional reactions… Or just stop social media use all together.

I feel for you. When I was using Facebook there was a lot of right wing and left wing conflicts over the British flag. It just seems like everyone likes to fight over things that are so small.

Kudos, everyone deserves dignity and not having to experience constant conflict online.

Social media is giving morons, it doesn’t matter the slightest their political affiliation, the illusion they have an audience. Them being morons is perfectly fine with me, but them starting to believe their opinion is meaningful to anyone but themselves? Not so much.
