Perfect reactionary sentiment: “if I can’t see it, it doesn’t exist.”
It’s wild that not only do they primarily react to shapes and colors, but they also adopt the infant framework of lacking object permanence.
I’m reminded of a study conducted during WW1 whose purpose was to show that Jewish people were underrepresented in the military; the study showed the opposite, that Jewish people were OVERrepresented in the military, which didn’t help the narrative they were trying to create, so they buried the study.
The USDA isn’t even going as far as completing their study before trying to bury it.

This was in Imperial Germany. They also put the vets into the camps later.
1767: “Let them eat cake!”

2025: “Let them eat Drake!”

Oh good, I imagine food insecurity is not important or anything like that.
Things will get so bleak for so many Americans and Trump will continue “cook the books” for federal data. The MSM will be shit as always and it won’t do its job of investigative journalism to push back on this. Plus the democrats solution - as always - will be to “Vote!”
I have the feeling that one of the few lessons that was learned by the right wing during the start of COVID was just to stop measuring. People unironically said to just stop testing to lower the infection numbers. Now the same thing happens for the economy with the bureau of labor statistics and now this. We don’t have starving people if we don’t see them. And there are far too many people that won’t see the obvious problem with this or just don’t care.
The majority of people earning <$50k/annum voted for Donald Trump.
Now they can pay to file their taxes, lose Medicaid, and struggle to find food with higher tarifffed grocery prices and reduced subsidies for food banks without even being noticed.
But at least Brown people are being snatched off the streets and we are building a $200 million gold ballroom.
A sad reality of life is that many people are poor simply because they’re stupid and will act against their own self-preservation.
