I bet it’s the same with the porn industry as with every other industry. There are some not obvious hurdles and dangers. And generally speaking nobody wants to get injured severely at work, so try not to repeat all the mistakes your predecessors did. I think how people usually do it is either learn a job, start as an assistant to the camera man and learn the ropes, you rarely start as the director. And if you do, try to do some networking. Talk to other professionals, try to aquire some of their wisdom.
