I have to wonder how much of the lack of a port to PC is simply due to the fact that the development practices and pipeline of PS4 exclusives didn’t account for the possibility of eventually porting to a different platform. After all, there has to be a reason why the majority of Sony PC ports have been games that had some sort of PS5 version, and we know that PS5 titles are developed setting up the foundation for porting to other platforms from the start (see the Nixes talk on their Spiderman port and stuff like that). It might very well be that the job of porting to PC or even PS5 in an appropriate manner would be so hard, messy and hacky that they consider it’s not worth it. The fact that it was done by a third party studio probably doesn’t help.

My more cynical side really considers the possibility that they are keeping it in the back pocket as a go-to for a hyped remake at the right time (push of a newer version of PS5 or PS6 release window). The Demon Souls remake did decently well and it was the remake of a title that not many cared about… How well would the remake of the hyped Bloodborne do, comparatively?

And I think that there’s probably an intersection of both, that the task of porting the game out of PS4 would be demanding enough that at that point might as well do a full remake.

I absolutely can believe that they are of keeping it in their back pocket for an opportune time like as a lead title for PS6 or something.

At this point, as a customer, it’s really hard justifying buying a PlayStation at all so I’m sure Sony is worried about their marketshare as well.

Bloodborne was developed for pc first and then ported to PS from my understanding. Some of the wiki images are from the PC version of the game, submitted by one of the devs.

Or I’m thinking of another game.

Yeah there were some rumors along those lines, but primarily related to very early builds (the wiki image thing was debunked, if I recall correctly) I have to imagine there is a substantial difference between crude early work and the final product, and we don’t know how advanced those builds were, they very well might’ve been just proof of concept prototypes.
I wouldn’t necessarily put too much weight into that as the basis for believing that a port was intended, since Bloodborne was developed around the change of the generation and it’s very possible that those builds were just them trying to get some work going while waiting to get their hands on the development resources and tools for PS4.

I didn’t mean a PC version was intended. Even if there was a fully-polished PC version, keeping their console exclusives to increase people buying into the system can be worth keeping it exclusive for a company.
