“Some of you may die, but that’s a risk I’m willing to take.”

The literal definition of an ‘ectopic pregnancy’ is that the embryo is outside the womb and can’t possibly be a viable pregnancy.
I spent a large chunk of my life deep in conservative christian culture and one of the patterns I notice a lot now when I run into the “intellectual” arm of the movement is the obstinate and determined push to fit facts to narrative. Narrative always comes first, then maybe, sometimes, they’ll find some facts. “See, I was right all along”. “My belief which I have held for so long in the absence of evidence is fully justified by this small set of cherry-picked data”. Over and over and over again.

“That I had my buddy doctor up so it looks like we have a case”
spent nine months in her mother’s ovary
That sounds painful.
Edit: I looked up the kid’s name to see where this came from. There are indeed a bunch of news articles about it. Too many for my liking however seem to be on pro-lifer pages and none that I could find seemed like actual scientific sources. I don’t know, man. The mother reportedly noticed absolutely nothing and the whole thing was discovered only when she went to have a cesarean. I’d be really interested in the logistics of this pregnancy. Was there a placenta? An umbilical cord? How did this kid survive in an ovary? How did the ovary survive, for that matter?
