    I remember when the Mueller investigation stuff was going on. I was pretty lib then still. More or less fell for it. Now I look back on it and it looks so silly. The connections drawn were really tenuous and if Trump was actually Russia’s pawn (it wouldn’t be “Putin’s” because Putin is just a guy, not the whole of Russian governance and its motives) there are all kinds of things he could do to rollback the US’s constant interference in Russia and its allies; things he hasn’t done. And that would just be a basic starting point of benefit to Russia. Furthermore, as supreme leader of the US regime, that already puts Trump in a position where it would be hard for any country like Russia to actually control him. The US has what some call vassals because of how far-reaching its military and economic power is, not because some European leaders visited the US a couple of times and the US blackmailed them or something.

    And of course that’s not getting into the racist/xenophobic implications that the US is incapable of producing a man such as him on its own and that it must be “foreign influence.”

    There’s just so much wrong with the entire train of thought. Trump is about as USian archetype of power as they come. People just don’t want to admit that he’s the authentic face of it because that means the USian power structure is a bunch of disturbing and gross behavior.

    i’d argue that in their minds filled with liberal indoctrination, the current state of the US and the open sabotage of the trumpet and his lackeys of a dying empire to get themselves rich and feel like royalty, only can be explained by a russian plot of destroying their freedumbs and “democracy”, not a weird and senile oligarch with far-right leanings who wants to spoil every cent of profit from the state to make his personal riches grow using a populist platform deceiving everyone with slogans from the 19th century with a sprinkle of “cultural war”, because “the capitalists are good people like the carnegies, ford, the waltons, rockefellers et al” and removed like trump are an anomaly created by evul russian commies!!!

    but maybe that’s just me

    I’ve seen posters of the GOP as the “G☭P”. Ofc for the party that also calls Dems “socialist” because they want the government to intervene in the economy.
