I hope the culture on most local lemmy’s is decent, I should breathe some activity into mine (maybe I’ll see another hexbear on the other side (but I’ll probably use an alt so you wouldn’t really know it? (Except it’s pretty inactive just like one guy posted a few articles last week so it would be obvious?))).
A facsimile of interacting with your neighbours and having a 3rd space that’s difficult for Americans otherwise. Closest would be a church, hobby or book club but if you’re not really into religion and read at the average American literacy level, you’re doomed. Hobby is still possible but even then your location, working hours and/or income may influence that. A tad difficult to join a 40k group if you live 15 miles away from the nearest gaming workshop, work nights and earn minimum wage.
