I have been liking it a lot. Just all of it really, but especially the two protagonists. The little boy who plays Egg is going to have a hell of an acting career ahead of him. He really steals every single scene especially with his emotive range for such a young actor. Dunk is also great in that humdrum naive farm boy aspiring to be a hedge knight way but his performance is far more subdued. Together their performances compliment each other wonderfully.
Love it, grounded and funny in a way the other got shows never were
Yeah that has been my vibe as well. Would love more adaptation of the universe in this vein. For big epic gritty fantasy I would also love to see someone adapt the Powder Mage series. It starts with a fantasy world’s version of the french revolution and the titular “powder mages” are basically magic musketeers who snort gunpowder to turn into the 18th century france version of Neo/John Wick. It slaps.
How were the sequels? I read Promise of Blood and enjoyed it but then moved on to other stuff instead.
I really enjoyed the whole series. Also the grill pilled “god” is a great bit.
