I’ve gotten into Fallout 4 (sucks that they got rid of the mods and 99.9% of creation club) and Nba 2k26, I know that it’s the same game every year but I buy it once every 5 years and just try to get a kick out of beating the Dallas Mavericks (owned by Miriam Adleson)

I’m tyring to unify China under the chairman Mao in the new DLC of HOI4. It’s been 20 hours still can’t unify China yet. Sometimes, I think that how chairman Mao managed to do it irl. Respect to him.

Last night, I beat Japanese invaders and liberated Burma, Vietnam and took Katayama’s revenge by installing JPC in power in Japan. Helped to defeat Nazis. Took back Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau back. Finally, comrade Mao might rest in peace.
I’m about to try Through the Darkest of Times because I’m preparing a second academic paper on videogames, arts and politics.
As far as I know, you have to organise antifas from different walks of life and tendencies in Nazi Germany. Don’t wanna know too much because I need to elaborate hypothesis before actually playing it. Then the gaming + analysis will begin.
At the risk of being stereotypical, I’m playing Workers and Resources: Soviet Republic. I just recently finished setting up oil industry and rail for exporting fuel, alcohol, and food. The alcohol is only for export and no-one is addicted. I’m determined to achieve self-sufficiency and am working on the steel industry next!
I’ve also reinstalled Morrowind with a monstrous Vanilla-Extended Mod Pack from the Open Morrowind Modding community and spent last night sleepily clicking my way through 440 mod downloads. I’ve succeeded, and am now slightly terrified of the monster I’ve created.

I tried playing it but got stuck at setting up coal mines or whatever, it was my first game in the genre and apparently it’s fairly complicated so not a great place to start
It’s definitely both very complex, with layered mechanics, and also honestly things aren’t always well explained in game. I have a lot of time in it and I still run into new systems that I can’t get to work without looking through answers from other players and guides etc. I find it rewarding now that I can make sense of it and understand a lot of the core systems, but it took a while to get there and I also didn’t play the game for a long time after buying it because trying to build something for the first time is like hitting a brick wall.
But, if you’re interested in more accessible city builders, I can recommend a couple - try out frostpunk, the original one, great vibes and music and it’s generally much easier to pick it up while still having lots of room to optimize.
For something completely different, Per Aspera let’s you terraform mars as an AI and make narrative choices while building huge systems of industry and extraction across the whole planet. Very satisfying although be warned that it’s impossible to make nice and neat cities because of the way its road building and placement works.
Honestly I have like started three games. Need to go back to baldur gate 2 or gothic 1 and finally finish either.
Is Baldur’s gate similar to The Witcher? I bought the Witcher 3 like 7-8 years ago and never really played it but I’ve heard the two compared before
Which baldur gate? 1-2 are different from 3 by quite a margin. Baldur Gate 3 isnt as open worlded as witcher 3 but has more rpg choices.
Going through terraria 1.4.5 and metaphor refantazio, i find the latter really enjoyable since it has some very funny liberal brainworms, the overarching theme is a struggle against the “might makes right” idea of the antagonist Louis, funnily you have to use might to beat him.
Same, the whole time playing Metaphor I was thinking about how it was basically liberalism put into video game form. Another theme I found funny in it was it’s idea that an ideal society is a democratic one where anyone can become king, and yet has a main cast that all are either nobles or special/privileged in some way going around and saving the day for everyone else. Despite that the brainworms are at least absurd enough to be enjoyable though and Louis carries the story pretty hard by being a very good proto-fascist villain.

Emulated Bloodborne on my PC. Have played all Dark souls games and Elden Ring, but never had a PS4 so no Bloodborne until now. Edit: and I played Sekiro, but didn’t really like it ngl. It was too easy, I am not really into samurai stuff and I really didn’t care for the lore, which is typical for me, but the other souls games always hooked me with their vague ass cut scenes haha.
Replaying Expedition 33 so I can play the other characters that were basically untouched for my first playthrough (Sciel and Monocco). Also there is new DLC and I still need to beat some super bosses
And emulated Tears of the Kingdom. Beat Breath of the wild last year and liked it a lot. Big Zelda fan and have played almost all of them too.
I wish I could upgrade my PC, but it’s just inarguable with the price surges right now lmao. Luckily the emulation is not that intensive and my PC is still good overall✌️
not to beat a dead horse but Bloodborne is really one of the absolute greats (personally my favorite of those alongside DS1)- really jealous of anyone playing through it for the first time. really interested in trying the emulation but not sure my PC is up for it, will have to look into the recommended specs.
Ah, don’t be too jealous. My ADHD and anhedonic symptoms kind of prevent me from really enjoying many things. I can barely cling unto gaming as a hobby at all and it is the only hobby I managed to have, which is crazy considering that games are designed to be dopamine generators and it is almost purely consumption and not creative, yet I still only manage to play like a couple hours per week. Many times it even feels like a chore to play 😬
Hopefully I can stick with BB at least✌️
ah i hear you, know the feeling too well. things are out of balance for me atm and not really getting into any games right now, sometimes it’s just not the right thing for the moment for me. i hope things feel better for you soon!
Ive been playing Elden Ring DLC for the past few months without using scadutree shards, spirit ashes, summons, OP weapons, status effects, etc. I’m finally at Radahn and its really fun.

I’ve recently replayed Tunic after some years. Marvelous game, sadly can’t talk much about it without spoilers.
I’m now replaying Fire Emblem Three Houses in preparation to cope about not being able to play Fortune’s Weave unless I befriend some wealthy person willing to lend me their switch 2. It’s right up there with Banner Saga and Berwick Saga for my favourite tactical RPGs.

Not to be a downer, but well… was playing guild wars 2. Then they fucked it up so badly, I don’t want to deal with it anymore. So I’m getting back into reading and fiction writing, and trying to move away from my list of hobbies being so dependent on video games. Been burned too many times…

Started playing Rocket League last week, been fun but damn theres a lot to learn
Got back to playing Tetris, been grinding Lioden and i basically play star stable on a daily basis (not a good game dont recommend it at all💀)
Nice! I used to play quite a bit of Rocket League w my friend. There’s a certain boost animation you can use that looks like C💧M spraying, it’s especially funny after you win a match, when they show the winners, to spin around and start hitting the boost button. People get so mad about it😂😂
