In light of the recent Discord scandal(s), I’m curious if any TTRPG communities currently using Discord are planning to leave it in favor of Matrix, as it seems to be one of the most popular choices for a Discord replacement. Would be great to see some vibrant roleplaying communities on Matrix!

Sounds interesting! What game system? Back when I still had a gaming group, I used Discord for voice chat. Matrix voice chat works well, but lacks push-to-talk functionality, though (which is an annoyance for me, personally).

My groups play Pathfinder 2e and Fabula Ultima at the moment. My worldbuilding project is system agnostic, but high fantasy. We have played dnd 5e, Blades in the Dark, Slugblaster, Call of Cthulhu (7th edition I think?), beta Daggerheart. We want to play release Daggerheart, Triangle Agency, and even more.

Regarding the push to talk, I’m not an expert but is that a limitation of the Matrix protocol or perhaps the client you were using to connect?

I’m a big fan of the Cypher System by Monte Cook, personally. However Call of Cthulhu (at least the mythos) is also near and dear to me. Truth be told, I haven’t had a gaming group for a while now, so I’m sure there are tons of great games out there that I haven’t even heard of.

As for voice chat and push-to-talk - it’s not a limitation of the Matrix protocol (as far as I know), but none of the Matrix clients have this feature. Trust me. I’ve looked. And looked. And looked. ;)
