No idea what’s going on or whether the issue is on Piefed or Mastodon’s side but hear me out.

See attached image. Posts from !mrbungle@piefed.social aren’t federating with Mastodon anymore. I’m following both the community and my Piefed account from my Mastodon account on mas.to. The last post visible from Mastodon was created on Feb 12th. The community isn’t very active but there have been a few new posts today and in the past few days. Same issue with !enniomorricone@piefed.social.

This doesn’t happen with all communities, though. For example !movies@piefed.social is federating just fine and I can see the latest posts, including those created today.

Curious to hear if anyone else noticed that! Any ideas what’s going on? :)

I am the author of all the missing posts by the way. Could it be something wrong with my account?

      Ironically enough, the federation issues weren’t just present for mastodon, but more general, and rimu’s response didn’t federate over to zip. Here is a direct link to his response. I think the technical details are that there was an issue where webfinger responses were not always working reliably.

    I follow the account I’m using now with mine from Mastodon.Social, and the last time a The/Brain/Bin post of mine was federated to Mastodon.Social, it was a comment on February 9. My posts still federate on all other instances I have accounts on (and that I monitor - sorry Lemmy.ml). Haven’t checked the modlog but doesn’t seem to be banning at least. Considering the lack of federation, how close the dates of the last updates were, and I am on a very different software, I’d imagine the issue is likely on Mastodon.Social’s side.

    I have a mastodon.social account purely for following piefed.social accounts, to make them show up on Mastodon. There’s still lots of posts coming through but as you say, some missing.

    Yesterday I fixed a federation bug which had existed for many months. I suspect that this fix has confused Mastodon a little but it will come right over time as cached data at their end expires and is refreshed. Long story. But I think it’ll work itself out in the next 24 hours.
