Why can’t it ever be “anti-rich?” Nobody can ever find the root cause because nobody cares about the cause, they just care about feeling hate because it makes them feel good.
I’m starting to think this isn’t true. I think maybe a bunch of people lack the energy and ability to think deeply and frustration with not being able to, or not wanting to expend the energy is a certain portion of the rage.
I’m not sure if I put that clearly. In other words, I think their jumping to rage is a sort of shortcut that sidesteps complex thinking and consideration of other perspectives.
Maybe that’s not as relevant here. But I think what I’m exploring is pervasive in our American society. Thinking about politics, and sociology is just too exhausting for people. And they lash out and scream about it. Make mental shortcuts. Use black and white thinking. Othering people. Etc.
And I don’t think our food supply, heath care and education system are helping. In fact, I think all of them actively lower the capacity for your average person to be reflective.
Maybe I’m incoherent here; but I think there’s some truth somewhere in this that goes beyond “no shit, Americans are dumb.” I expect that sort of knee jerk shallow response. And to that I say, “sure, but… my point is…”
