However, I also think that the average person equates the term genocide to one very specific historical event and cannot draw correlations to other events that qualify as genocide.
In this situation I can’t tell if it’s just a moron using the term incorrectly, or if it’s intended genocide denial.
I dont disagree, everyone should know by now what is going on. Whether or not it’s retaliatory doesn’t justify the horrors being inflicted upon the entire population of Gaza.
I honestly do think that most people are living in their own world and acting based on the information that is easiest for them to acquire. It’s very easy to not look past their own situation and either regurgitate what they hear or check out completely and say things like “I’m not into politics”
That said, I do agree that this instance of ignorance deserves to be dunked on because of the egregious way they are throwing the word around and displaying a loose understanding of the events. This person obviously knows enough to form the wrong opinion with the right information, so fuck em.
