Went to 3-4 clubs last night. Security line was long, got patted down, multiple guards, metal detectors. I thought it was gonna be wild.
I was awestruck by the contrast in at least 2 clubs. The servers were in lingerie and had their ass and tits out (and I mean this positively because that’s the only good thing I can remember from my night out), Lil Jon and all the other club classics were blaring. Guys had on jeans and a tshirt and maybe a trucker hat or baseball hat, while their girlfriends were much more elegantly dressed. But regardless they just stood around or played cornhole.
The last one was a bit more high energy, but it was just people facing the DJ and vibing to it like a concert.
I don’t dance or anything either. I only went to maintain the illusion of being normal and social. But it was somehow even more awkward being around a bunch of awkward people than if everyone was dancing.
I don’t know. I was expecting it to be like the music videos with people dancing around the floor and mixing and mingling with each other. Is this normal in the US?

They’re exclusively places to burn money in exchange for the illusion of social interaction and I’ll never be convinced otherwise. Everything else that a club “offers” can be better found elsewhere.
the venn diagram of places to dance that aren’t clubs and ones that serve alcohol is the barest sliver, and surely doesn’t exist in heaps of towns–i’d literally prefer it if i could have a drink and dance to jazz but that doesn’t even exist here!
what planet do you live on that you can’t find a bar?
bars are not for dancing, get real. heap of hubris. some, with ample space can get a little dance floor going on occasion but it’s not expected, or the rule. most don’t have enough room even if the vibes are nice.
I know lots of places that blur the line between bar, venue and club, depending on the night. There would be dancing most nights, but sometimes with live music instead of a dj. And while the dance floor is prominent, you can easily just chill in a booth.
bar-cum-venue is definitely a grain of species, and do typically have a dance space, but in my experience they require a show to be happening for any dancing to happen.
like that’s the difference; a club always has dancing and a bar might in specific circumstances
