For something that I feel doesn’t really fit in either of those – have you heard about the Pope’s encyclical on AI? I think it’s supposed to be released sometime today, IIRC. I’m not religious but I am curious to see how they’re going to try to position the Catholic Church wrt AI.

Allow me to introduce myself. I am the leader of a passionate (but not hateful) anti-AI community. Might some of our points of discussion (all negative towards/against AI) be welcome here?
Yes negative discussions about AI are welcome on dbzer0. We even have a community for it !fuck_corporate_ai@lemmy.dbzer0.com Provided they do not promote misinformation, medical or otherwise. Sources are required for bold sounding claims, especially around health related stuff (all too many people are quick to use schitzo and psychosis as ad-hominems rather than as a point of actual discussion). Liberal rhetoric like carbon footprint used to trace environmental harm back to and blame individual users as opposed to companies is not acceptable. And yes this does apply to individuals who run their own models. Carbon footprint is victim blaming garbage.
Discussions about copyright are kinda taboo on dbzer0, we are a very piracy-friendly community, and believe strongly in information freedom. This applies to movies, games, art, and music. Anti-Piracy or Pro-IP sentiment isn’t taken too kindly here. This does usually apply to arguments about “art theft”.
TLDR there is discussion to be had. !fuck_corporate_ai@lemmy.dbzer0.com is probably the better space for it. There are caveats to how it should be discussed.
Oh and if threads get out of hand from Fuck_AI brigading or harassing they will be locked. Nothing against you if that happens. It’s just something we unfortunately deal with from time to time.

I know they’re different communities. I was just clarifying that you might post a thread and it may have to be locked since a lot of those people from Fuck_AI do stalk these communities (and a few hold a nasty grudge against me and dbzer0 for some reason).

No clue. I think they just hate that I run a few AI image gen communities, though it’s possible some of them are right-wing dipshits who hate me for being a leftist. Just speculation on my part though, they’ve never actually said why just hurled insults and abuse at me.
