    similar to de-Nazification

The US needs an actual de-Nazification, considering how sympathetic it was to working with “former” Nazis after WWII. It also needs an unprecedented decolonization process to address it being a state founded on genocide and still in settler contradiction from continuing to occupy native land and continuing to treat indigenous people as a barely-existent nuisance. And on top of that, a dismantling of systemic racism, possibly including some kind of reparations. I can’t say what exactly that process should look like, but it has to happen if there’s ever going to be peace and stability in the region. MAGA is just the right’s most organized response to capitalism and empire in decline. The bulk of the US’s horrors were carried out before MAGA was ever a thing.

You’ll never see Krugman of the OPs page of the NYTimes after this one. Eventually, he may even start calling it the “cpaitalist” system.

The most based thing I have heard in my entire life on this wretched fucking Earth. He is right. It is unpleasant to think about but he is right.

Unless some kind of revolution happens, and it manifests the conditions for a mass de-radicalization that is both quick and deep, and the post-revolutionary period does a superhuman job of bringing racists, evangelicals, and American Civil Religion fanatics into its fold… Then there is no future for the US of A that isn’t either full-blown worse-than-Nazi hyperfascism, or a revolution that inevitably, for its own survival, accrues a kill count in the high eight digits.

i don’t trust that it comes from a good or enlightened place at all

Its preaching to the choir of the liberal forever culture wars.

MAGA is not comparable to the nazis. They are still liberal not facists.

To clarify: i think a fundamental element of fascism is military dictatorship and Trump is a capitalist that answers to the bourgeoisie and the military answers to him, not the other way around.

If anything MAGA are closer to being theocrats than fascists.
