Lemmy’s search, rediscoverability of older threads has a few things left to be desired, and deleted posts make the comment contents very hard to found, but overall it prioritizes persistence against censorship and archivability over keeping communications private and ephemeral, which is what I like about it.
Even Reddit’s search was infamously terrible, it’s just they
arewere properly indexed by search engines. In the case of the threadiverse there’s a lot of duplication in the indexes because it’s simply not a monolithic service
Unfortunately there’s no better alternative, so make use of the Internet Archive.
What about starting ones own Website/Weblog?

yeah 100% agree. you’re feeding reddit when you post to it. none of that is gonna help the community long-term, as it’s all gonna land behind ad-ridden spyware paywalls. it’s only gonna shift power to the upper classes who then own the data.
