This is my daily user when I go to the park to read. It’s my first Kindle 3rdGen, (called Kindle Keyboard) that I bought way back in 2010.
The battery was going to crap (after 16 years!), so I replaced that and everything was great. But then I dropped it and cracked screen, so I replaced screen. And while I was doing that, I went ahead and replaced the keyboard since my other one was getting kinda crunchy.
Decorative skin was bought on ebay for $2.
I don’t connect it to wifi (I don’t need Amazon snoopin on me), I copy all my DRM-Free books to the device directly from Calibre.
EDIT: I just bricked this device last night. I was updating to KOReader, and I don’t know what happened, but now it won’t come on! lolol

It is not, but it’s never been connected to the internet, and I took out the wifi connector last time I had it opened to change out the screen. And I’ve never had a DRM book on it, every one has been DRM free since the say I bought it. :)
Thank you. I’ll try Calibre to send books to my keyboard.
And if that doesn’t work (sometimes Calibre updates are wonky on my system), just convert your books in Calibre in the format you need, then copy directly over via USB. My Kindle Keyboard uses .azw format and .mobi format. All the newer ones use .epub, but I was unable to find a workaround to make my older kindle keyboards to read epubs.
