An Autist’s Guide to the Rats of NIMH

“An Autist’s Guide to the Rats of NIMH” is a fanfiction of Robert C. O’Brien’s book “Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH” written by Qwerty Userse31 Keyboard where the core idea of the book (a rat society) is taken and stretched to fantastical lengths. Ideas on how a rat society would interact with both itself, it’s environment, and the human race.

This fanfiction has key differences from most standard factions. First off, it is organized and written in a “wikipedian-esque” manner with a collection of articles describing topics, events, historical trends, people, etc in this fanfiction universe. A reader is intended to browse through much like they do wikipedia. This is very much NOT a novel!

Second of all, the protagonist of the story is not a character or set of characters, but instead the Rat Republic. Yes, previous characters from the original story and some of my own “fan created” ones play a role in the story, but they are not the primary focus of this fanfiction. There is no “Great Man Theory” of history to be found here.

Third, most fanfictions on the internet rely (in my opinion) way to heavily on already existing or fan created characters and often ignore the “outside world”. Banishing the lore of that world to the basement, destroying the very essence of why people even go to fiction, to think and ponder other worlds.

This fanfiction is avoiding that trend and instead, ponders the world of the Rats of NIMH.

Fourth, this fanfiction takes the original story as a “suggestion”. Orthodox Rats of NIMH fans will be disappointed in the incredible number of changes in this fanfiction. There is no “The Plan”, Mrs. Frisby, or talking bird.

Fifth, this fanfiction is even MORE cringe and batshit insane then even your average love fanfiction. Their’s going to be a LOT of transgender rats, deranged doctors thinking rats are a communist plot to destory america, bootleg leapster cartridges, ridiculous close calls to nuclear armageddon, and so much more. So try to not be too freaked out, I have atleast a little self recognition of my autism.
