I’m not a furry, but I never understood the pervasive hate on furries. Seems to often come from biggotted people, but it can blindside you when it doesn’t.

I’m a furry, and I’ll be the first to admit our fandom has let in some real stinkers – and only in about half of those cases do I mean that literally. We’re usually pretty good about kicking out groomers and people who actually want to fuck real life animals, but GaroShadowscale and Hypnotist Sappho (respectively) went way too long before being noticed.
If a person’s only exposure to the furry fandom was Youtube exposés about those two, maybe Internet Historian’s video on Rainfurrest 2015 thrown in for good measure, I wouldn’t blame them for thinking we were disgusting weirdos.
It’s unfortunate that only the exceptions to the generally extremely wholesome rule get press coverage.
As a furry - there are a lot of really nasty stereotypes and misconceptions about us and the stuff we do. A lot of it is just thinly veiled homo/transphobia.
Generally though, we’re a chill bunch of queer creatives and social outcasts who wanna get drunk and have a good time with like-minded individuals.
There is the one off nutters too, but you can say that about any Fandom and I’ve found the furry community to self-police more than most.
Yes! The quality of the artwork that comes from the furry community can be quite well done! I’m often in awe and inspired by the detail and colors and expression that comes off in the illustrations that I see. You would have to be discriminitory to not give flowers to the sheer skill involved.

The vast majority aren’t bad people.
I take umbrage.
