A community for US news.
Lots of content coming - Like and subscribe! Rules:
- adhere to instance legal terms
- post US news only
- no NSFW porn etc
- striving for minimal moderation otherwise
For global worldnews go here: !world_news@lemmy.world
[/c/world_news@lemmy.world]
Why create new news community? I’m tired of getting banned by crazy lemmy
moderators under made up reasons for posting news articles (likely reddit
subversive operation).
Also most of news communities are empty - this one will be full of content.
So i’m now creating my own community. everyone welcome, let’s tear reddit down
together.
Why are my new communities llook empty when looking from other instances?
I posted bunch of posts
!us_news@lemmy.world is 4 hours old, it is probably not yet federated with your instance. Once someone is subscribed it should start pulling in posts.
!world_news@lemmy.world could not be fetched by my instance, I am guessing it is new as well and the same thing is happening. Either that, or it is set to local only.
Those both are new yes. I just created them yesterday arund 7pm EDT.
Oh cool - thank you! so it’s just federation delayed and stuff but eventually it would self resolve - didnt realize that. nice
Additionally, someone in an external instance can pull older posts by searching their links in the search page, often even if you get the link from yet another instance. Same for comments.
Only caveat is if the original post is unreachable, e.g. if communications were blocked (“instance defederated”), DNS or firewall is misbehaving at instance level, the instance is dead, etc.
Also, boosting, a microblogging thing, allows spreading posts and comments further, though a bit more indirectly.
