I mean it wasn’t consentual either which is another whole aspect most shows wouldn’t touch.
Where I am in the US, women don’t go through it in silence now. If you need medical attention for it, there’s an investigation to make sure you didn’t miscarry on purpose and the hospital demands burial of the remains.
Data nonchalantly letting Lal choose her own gender is another thing Star Trek did decades before bigots could be trained to be mad about it.
