This started years ago but it is one of my most memorable wins.

I have a sweet tooth and always had a hard time limiting desserts. I used to have 500g of sugar a day sometimes.

I am in complete abstinence now. I eat nothing sweet except seasonal fruits in limited quantities. It changed my relationship with food. I effortlessly control when I eat and how much. I don’t fantasize about food anymore.

I went out recently to my favorite dessert place with a friend. For the first time ever I had one serving, enjoyed it thoroughly and stopped.

It’s all about reshaping your gut microbiome and the brain. Eventually you’ll stop craving it.

Great! Me too, except I allowed myself to slide back recently and quickly noticed that it’s still bad.

I stopped eating white, industrial sugar. I still eat honey, sometimes cane sugar, and of course other sugars like fruit and vegetables.

While it’s debatable whether refined industrial sugar is actually worse than natural sugars (I maintain it is, because it’s “empty”), a decision like this blocks you from buying or eating a fuckton of products.

Of course I heard this before but I’m never 100% sure if it’s true. Give yourself some credit for overcoming habit!

Huh, similar experience, except it made me physically nauseous for hour afterword. Be glad you’re still able to tolerate sugar.

I do feel nauseous when eating sugar too after weaning myself off it years ago, but I don’t mind it. It’s easier to just not eat sweets at all. That means I don’t have to think too much about counting calories either.

Yeah. I can tolerate it well probably because have an active lifestyle. Muscles and liver are the biggest sink of glucose.

If it is going elsewhere like adipose tissues or staying in blood too long then you are not metabolically healthy.

a lot of differences in taste also just come with age, at least for me.

i used to looove really sweet food, like the type of stuff they sell at the supermarket in the “sweets” section. often, these were made mostly of sugar, such as these ones:

now, i can’t eat them anymore. i get literally nauseous if i eat even a single piece of them. it’s because i cannot bear the intense amount of sugar anymore. it’s just because i’ve gotten older. i prefer potato salad and such nowadays.
