Video and images from the scene of a US airstrike on a wedding in Iran show that the explosion was caused by a direct hit from a US munition, according to a Reuters analysis published on 4 September.

Weapons experts who reviewed Reuters-verified footage said the damage pattern of the 2 September strike in the city of Kuhestak in Hormozgan Province near the Strait of Hormuz was consistent with a direct strike by a US precision-guided munition.

The strike on the wedding party for a fisherman’s daughter initially killed four people and wounded nearly 70. A fifth victim, a 22-year-old woman, died of her injuries in the hospital a short time later.

Among those killed were two children, four-year-old Amir-Mohammad Karimi and 16-year-old Mohammad Malahi.
