Things like necessary age verifications are annoying to the average user and can potentially be motivating enough to move the masses to something like matrix. I don’t see that happening without the current big centralized platforms enshitifying anyway so these news make me more happy than anything, finally I can see my normie friends get annoyed enough by the standard to do a little bit of research about alternatives. Am I wrong in thinking this, would any big change ever happen without massive platforms getting worse ?
People will never leave but centralized platforms, no matter what. I mean look at Xitter. They killed the API, cranked up the ads, got turned into a Nazi platform, became a nudify platform, etc. What more could they possibly do to drive people away?
if changes can be ignored they will be ignored, something unavoidable like age verification will have a larger impact on the average user than any of those changes imo
Yes you are
How else will the masses stop using these platforms?
Social media accelerationist is a pretty unexpected position for someone to have. I don’t agree but I kinda dig it
I’d be happy to see people leave closed centralized proprietary platforms, but I don’t think Matrix has great UX, people will probably go to something else instead
