Anthropic is asking for spiritual guidance, wanna guess where they’re getting it from?

That night, Christopher Olah, one of Anthropic’s billionaire co-founders, was sitting next to Rabbi Mois Navon, an Orthodox scholar from Israel.

Rabbi Mois Navon, an Orthodox scholar from Israel.

I did a super-quickie google to see what I’d find. Yikes!

In this podcast, [AI and Faith] Advisor Rabbi Mois Navon draws on his 35-year career as a pioneering AI computer design engineer to discuss whether battlefield decisions by lethal autonomous weapons that seek to apply ostensible “moral algorithms” are consistent with principles of human dignity.

I don’t know how but my spidey sense tells me that he believes whatever the IDF and Israel itself does is morally righteous.

Asking the expert on some religious books that include multiple instances of divinely-mandated genocide from the country currently in the middle of a genocide for advice on how to make the murder bots respect human dignity is definitely a strategy when it comes to communicating your supposedly benevolent intentions.

I think you have to be a huge narcissist or something to believe AI is conscious or smart. Wow, it’s so reassuring and i’m always right, obviously it’s very smart.

It’s very fancy word prediction, that’s it. It just gets fancier.

It doesn’t know that 2+2 is 4. It knows that it’s read a lot of words that say that so it repeats it. It can’t explain why 2 + 2 is 4. It has read a bunch of words that explain it, and it repeats those words back to you. Then these fools see that and say “look, it does math and can even explain why the math works!”

I loathe these people. Its a Clever Hans program that knows how to use good grammar.

Secondly, the whole fucking thing sets an bad precedent because ultimately what these assholes think is that “speaks well = intelligent.” Which of course translates to “doesn’t speak well = unintelligent” and you know these assholes apply that to human beings. The ability to speak “well” is not an indicator of intelligence and also is steeped in ableism and racism.

I’m not even anti-LLM in theory. I just hate these people and everything they stand for and say and do.
