This is exactly the kind of liberal the opportunism of Mamdani courts and amplifies. He could be using these moments to educate about and help organize against these land sales but has instead decided to toe the line of liberal Zionism by characterizing the protest against actively stealing Palestinian land as antisemitic.

the kernel of truth behind the accusation that Palestinian solidarity is just a cultural fad is these people. the people for whom the genocide has gone on long enough that they’ve lost interest, who got their sense of self-superiority - which was all they ever really wanted - from yelling at zionists online (not even in person at an encampment in most cases) and have moved on to the next thing that can provide them that sense of superiority, which is vote slightly lighter shade of blue no matter who.

meanwhile Palestinians are still being murdered every day and it feels like there’s nothing we can do about it.

if you are non white and you have white friends you know that they avoid the topic of racism. you will never see a white person rush to say that ornamentalism is bad, you will never hear them talk about microaggression. but they talk about antisemitism so passionately and always name it. and no its not progressive to be outspoken about this unless youre like a 15th century european. in this day and age its not controversial or a risk to talk about antisemitism but it sure is to talk about racism towards people of color.

This is interesting seeing the DSA do things so obviously unpopular so close to election day. A good portion of the voterbase has seen through the veil that is Israel. ESPECIALLY those who lean left of the Democrats. This really seems like a case of self-immolation for absolutely no reason whatsoever.

No reason?! I’ll have you know that this will result in 12, maybe even up to 14 people decide to vote for the Democrats, thus saving American democracy!

Clearly a worthwhile and necessary sacrifice.
