So I’m reading After Nations now and the author describes how the first nation states didn’t recognize women as proper citizens and denied them voting rights because the agrarian economy and colonialism required high birthrates. Those states consciously delegated women to just giving birth because that was what the current system required. After industrial revolution the state had better use for women as workers, consumers and taxpayers so it was possible to grant them more rights and allow them not to have kids. Now it looks like people in power want to go back to the old ways but not because the state needs it. It’s just their racist, sexist, psychopathic believes. Crazy stuff.
To be clear, the capitalist state needs more wage slaves. They freak out about population decline not because they want more friends but because the state is owned by capitalists and capitalism requires population growth to maintain profit growth.
Capitalists and their bribed mercenaries: “We shall maintian infinite profit and population growths on a planet that is finite like every other planet… Works everytime 6% or 7% of the time!”
