In this thread you can share what new coffee, equipment, techniques etc. you have tried this week.
What have you enjoyed and what didn’t you like? Have you learned anything new?
I found a roaster in my area that is a one man business who sells only beans and black coffee. He has been in business since the mid 90s. It was some of the best coffee I have ever had hands down. Roasted fresh daily. The type of beans and roast level is decided based on how he is feeling that day.
El Salvadorian beans, French roast, French press.
Oh nice! It’s great to find a really nice local roaster. Glad you’re enjoying it. French roast is definitely not my thing though. Way too dark for me. But if you enjoy it that’s all that matters!
I’ve been on the pour over for years, but recently got an areopress and sort of love it.
I swapped from a French press to the pour over to prevent coffee grounds from going down my shitty pipes, but… I miss it dearly.
Has anyone got a good cleaning regimen for coffee grounds in the press pot, or should I just enjoy the areopress and chill? I’m an apartment dweller so I can’t just chuck them outside.
I don’t yeet my grounds into the yard either, ha. Dump your press into a sieve over the sink, rinse, work the plunger with soap and water. There’s a video that gets posted a lot: https://youtu.be/nyKTStFSNFQ
Found my unicorn! The 500mL glass Clever Dripper, model C-90200. It’s so nice.
Enjoying some Pirates of Coffee Strawberry Sundae and Fruit Bombe.
For years, I’ve only made French press at home.
In a recent meh.com Instant Regret Kit, I received… this: https://www.cuisinart.com/premium-single-serve-brewer/SS-10P1.html
Brand new. All accessories included. Damaged box.
I figured, what the hell, I’ll try it. It has an easy-to-clean reusable filter, so why not?
Makes a perfectly cromulent cup of coffee. Not great. Not bad.
Occasionally, I do want just one cup of coffee. So for now, I’m keeping it.
That actually looks like a pretty decent machine. I don’t think I’d buy one myself, but I’ve certainly seen worse. I’m not surprised by your description of it.
Yeah, the reviews on it are great. Seems like a nice machine for a small office.
I wouldn’t have bought it. But since it was free, why not use it?
meh.com seems interesting. Where do you find the instant regret kits? Are they randomly posted?
They are random. Lately, they happen on marathon days.
Most of the time, it’s junk. But I’ve lucked out with good stuff a few times!
I’m at my parents house this weekend with all my family so I’m drinking grocery store brand coffee from a 12 cup drip coffee maker and I couldn’t be happier.
Glad to hear you’re enjoying it and having a good time.
