The “rationalist” community is what happens when you get a bunch of STEM kids try to rebuild the humanities from the ground-up. They think they are the first people ever to discover the field of epistemology and then try to rebuild it from scratch, using cringy terminology and shallow reasoning. If you are actually interested in epistemology then research it using more reputable sources (e.g. sep). The rationalist community over estimates its own importance and level of insight and they do not engage with the relevant literature
I like that take too for exposure of the field lf epistemology, but with epistemology you get more like truth axioms, but with rationalism your getting more of a paradoxical ponderings type scheme, such as solving food crises while expanding food production without killing people. And people are mad about the truth expressed like that, but epistemology brings that kind of thing to the forefront too so, rationalist can make much better forensics when paired with the truth and really is lacking a foundation without it
The rationalist community doesn’t focus strictly on epistemology (though it is a big focus). They often bring other areas of the humanities into it too, like moral philosophy (like your food production example). In any case the situation is the same. They think they are the first to consider these questions, and are completely oblivious to the vast academic research that has been written on the topic. So they reinvent the wheel and collectively make a lot of beginner mistakes without realizing it. Then they write blog posts that flesh out these poorly informed and poorly reasoned ideas, and act like these blog posts are major breakthroughs in human thought, when they aren’t. They only advertise the ignorance of the community.
