I dont think he is a particularly bad guy in any stretch, they hired him to do post epusode online stuff for new trek and promotional stuff as well a cameo in the worst season of star trek ever made and then was the only tng cast member not included in the 3rd season. He just strikes me as a shill and a bit of a dork
For all the hate Wesley gets, he at least stood up for a group of Native Americans over being relocated by the Federation, and had no problem sacrificing his career for it. Whereas Wil Wheaton doesn’t get much further than your typical shitlib “both sides” type of fecklessness.

Wesley was mostly fine. He was annoying in the esrly years but the early years were weird.
