A majority of Canadians want the country to accept fewer immigrants and temporary residents next year, according to a new Nanos Research survey commissioned by CTV News, as the country continues to grapple with immigration levels and their impact on housing, services and the economy.

The survey found that 52.3 per cent of respondents believe Canada should accept fewer immigrants and temporary residents in 2027, compared with 33.5 per cent who want the numbers to remain about the same.

??? The house prices, the loss of progress on wage, job loss illegal immigration, and now we have a new mafia in the country that likes to do political assassinations. It’s not immigration people are against its the by product of unregulated immigration that hurt people. Even Karl Marx thought unfettered immigration is a tool used by the elite.

You’ve been sold a fake bridge if you think all this is due to immigration alone, and not the end result of economic and political philosophies that Marx more famously wrote about.

I mean, c’mon, illegal immigration is not at all a significant problem in Canada. That’s borrowed Republican rhetoric from the US.

If you think cheap disposable labour isn’t a tool used by the corpo scum, then you haven’t really learned anything. Stop talking about American politics you sound ignorant. I was quoting Marx. Economic nationalism is the only thing one should be nationalistic about.

There’s no way you can get “cheap disposable labour isn’t a tool of corporations” out of what I said. It’s literally the opposite of what I said. I referred to the more relevant parts of Marx’s work to the problems you think you identified. It’s pretty weird to use Marx only to comment on immigration policy and ignore anything he said about socioeconomics.

You’re getting upset I pointed out that you misapplied American political rhetoric to Canada. If you don’t like American politics, then stop using it. I’m the one telling you to leave American political rhetoric out.

Implying that illegal immigration is indeed a significant problem in USA?

Cuz I assure you, leftists and commies there still argue that illegal immigration is not at all a significant problem in USA.

Marx and Engles famously wrote a whole bunch of eurocentric and bigoted nonsense. Who takes those racist idiots seriously in 2026 other than confused commies?

You’re not about to convince the majority that Trudeau era policy is not mass migration and is overall good for the average citizens.

Implying that illegal immigration is indeed a significant problem in USA?

That’s only the implication to someone who believes “Republican rhetoric” is truthful by nature. But who could possibly be that stupid?

Cuz I assure you, leftists and commies there still argue that illegal immigration is not at all a significant problem in USA.

So anyone that’s not a Republican is a leftist or commie?

Marx and Engles famously wrote a whole bunch of eurocentric and bigoted nonsense. Who takes those racist idiots seriously in 2026 other than confused commies?

The things the Republicans have been saying and doing are far more geocentric and bigoted but you just argued how they were in the right. Is your problem that what Marx and Engels wrote wasn’t stupid enough? But what does this have to do with the fact that what you’er mad at them for writing is more relevant than what they referred to Marx about. It’s weird you got so sidetracked by this that you brought in Engels out of nowhere too.

You’re not about to convince the majority that Trudeau era policy is not mass migration and is overall good for the average citizens.

It’d be weird if I did considering I wasn’t doing that at all.

You brought up Marx. I went ahead and mentioned his racist, supremacist buddy. Why so offended?

Republicans are shit. Even maple-MAGA is starting to question if pushing all the strength into culture wars is a winning strategy. Pissing on USian racists is easy.

Fixing our own and ourselves is harder. Being annoyed at Left doesn’t mean you’re chill with MAGA horseshit

Go back and re-read the comment I was replying to. Seems odd that someone who is the calm and collected one could miss that. The funny thing is that the thing I was referring to about Marx would actually be a criticism of Trudeau’s policies, so you’re actually taking the tack of defending Trudeau. Blindly defending Trudeau, basically.

Republicans are shit. Even maple-MAGA is starting to question if pushing all the strength into culture wars is a winning strategy. Pissing on USian racists is easy.

So then how did you get that implication?

Fixing our own and ourselves is harder. Being annoyed at Left doesn’t mean you’re chill with MAGA horseshit

When you start sounding closer to MAGA horeshit than anyone else, that annoyance might not be justified. Like, you know, suggesting that anyone left of MAGA are leftists and commies.

                Sure thing.

If you don’t agree with everything left proposes then you’re supporting MAGA.

You have to “act proper” and “civilized” before being annoyed at anything Left does. Otherwise your annoyance is not justified!. How uppity…

People want their lives to improve, immigrants improve their lives, this is a narrative that always appeals to people if you openly point out and reject the underlying racism and xenophobia of people like you who are trying to divide people with their snowflake feelings of anxiety about people that look different than them and fairy tale anecdotal stories they clutch on to as signs the sky is falling because of “new and scary” people.

That’s a lot of big assumptions for a tiny lil squirrel brain…

I’m glad that the majority doesn’t care about the opinions of idiotic elitist morons who think any conversation that isn’t 100% pro mass migration and sympathetic to illegal immigration is automatically"racism" and “xenophobia”.

In his letter to Sigfrid Meyer and August Vogt, he lamented how the rush of cheap irish labour was being used to suppress wages across the nation.

Also use your brain dumdum it’s a basic law of supply and demand. Same thing happened when women started working.
