Anyone that steals that much money does not have the ability to feel shame. Only remorse in being caught.

You may feel “shame and remorse” over a fraud of a couple thousand dollars, but at 12 billion it is clear you have no concept of shame.
Imagine what 12 Billion dollars is.
The AVERAGE of workers generates something like 1-1.2 million dollars worth of labor in one lifetime of labor. (Under the current value of labor in a capitalist society)
A billion dollars is the LIFETIME of work of about 830-1000 humans. Their entire life’s contribution working. So 12 billion dollars is potentially the lifetime labor of 12 thousands lives.
Now let’s assume you work for 50 years of your life (which is pretty low in today’s world). And also have a 40 hour work week (also kind of low compared to what a lot of ppl have to do to survive).
That’s 2,080 hour of work a year. 50 years for a lifetimes work. 12 thousand lifetimes of work. By this somewhat rough and impromptu estimation what she stole equates to 1.2 billion hours of work.Long live the firing squad

She had been merely following instructions given by her boss and former deputy chief inspector Nguyen Van Hung, who made the final decision on the inspection results and was responsible for reporting the bank’s situation to the government, they said.
They also pointed out that the testimonies by property developer Van Thinh Phat’s chairwoman Truong My Lan and former SCB CEO Vo Tan Hoang Van indicated there was no agreement that Nhan would accept any bribe.
And since the bribe was only paid after the inspection had already been completed, it should not have influenced her decisions, they argued, seeking leniency.

yea there are more than 30 ppl on trial but imo the head of the Inspectorate and Supervision Departmenth of the SBV can by definition not just be be a “bit player”.
but even if, sometimes it just feels good to read about that stuff, and open any news site any day (lets say today) and you will find something about a corruption arrest 😇

This is self-evident enough; I think I’m just typing out my “reform and opening up” anxiety. Private banks in socialist countries are a nexus for a potential bourgeois recapturing of the state.
