Honestly it feels more restrictive then reddit. And I’m getting pretty tired of it.

If you are someone with an open mind, the other side says you are not because their personal opinion is apparently the one and only absolute truth.

You can’t both sides the existence of a community of people. Anything that doesn’t explicitly reference the long history of academic gender and queer theory is trying to do just that.

Yeah, no thanks. That’s a giant red flag for me.

Your “both sides are bad” example for LGBTQ folk is a regular LGBTQ community

You also actively link by URL to transphobic instances, driving traffic towards them.

Unless something changes rapidly in that community, it won’t be federating with blahaj.zone

Edit - The community has been suspended from Blahaj Lemmy

Point of clarification, Exploding Heads is not “anti lgbtq”

Once you are an adult, we believe you should be free to make your own choices.

But we are highly protective of children.

    • We do not believe they should be the subject of indoctrination, be subject to treatment programs that could sterilize them for life, or have breasts and penises chopped off.

    • We do not believe their parents should be subjected to threats - legal, social, or emotional blackmail by medical “professionals”

    • We believe sports are an important opportunity for our daughters to develop. We do not believe men should be stealing those opportunities from them.

    • We believe our daughters have the right to privacy in changing rooms etc.

It’s interesting how the so called hyper progressive spaces are simply the LGBTQ communities. As usual this sounds like a clear elevation of antiqueer views and people over the lived experiences of a community that has an intrinsic right to exist.

Edit: A reminder to everyone reading this, claims of being neither left nor right are nearly always made by the right. Particularly when the left in this instance simply means people who are queer.

What are some examples of dogmatism and extremism from the progressive side that you hope to avoid?

Like spaduf says, those “both sides” claims often come from the anti-queer folks, and while I want to give you the benefit of the doubt, it’s difficult to tell what sort of community you’re trying to cultivate.
