So when both wrestlers are laying on the mat after a big exchange the ref will start a 10 count, presumably to rule a no contest / double down.

My question is, have they ever actually finished the 10 count? If so what happened?

I don’t know if it’s happened in AEW, but I know I’ve seen it before. The match would be ruled a double knockout and I’m guessing it would count as a tie for AEW’s stats.

I don’t think I’ve seen a double 10 count count out in any promotion. It seems more of a spot to fire up the crowd.

As siv said, it is relatively rare in places like WWE and AEW but I have seen it several times in NJPW or other japanese wrestling companies. I actually like when it happens. It can be a really good way to build a feud, provided they pay it off in a reasonable time.
